Guitar FX Mods

Boss DS-1 'Big Bacon' Mod

The Boss DS-1 is a great modification platform. I decided to offer my mod both as a service or as DIY kit, so you have the choice to send your pedal in or to perform the mod yourself.

Included in the mod:

- Tone Stack mod: Brings the mids up to let the guitar cut better through the mix.

- Clipping mod: Two clipping modes (LED / silicon and LED / LED+Silicon)

- Fancy bright orange LED

- Overall the pedal will sound fatter and less shrill, but with somewhat less gain due to the LED clipping.

Rates (pedal not included !!!):

- DIY kit with instructions: €17,50

- Mod Service: €47,50

Boss SD-1 'Double Cheese' Mod

The Boss SD-1 is a fun classic overdrive, but with some mods you can easily take it to the next level. The 'Double Cheese' mod is for everyone who likes the character of the SD-1 SuperOverDrive, but wants a little more.

Included in the mod:
- Clipping diodes and low boost switches
- More volume and clarity
- Blue LED

Rates (pedal not included !!!):

- DIY kit with instructions: €22,50

- Mod Service: €55,00

The SD-1 is also known to bleed through in the clean signal when the pedal is off. I offer a mod to fix this problem:

- Bleed mod (only as a service): €25,00

- Full mod Service (Double Cheese + Bleed mod): €65,00

CryBaby Mods

The Jim Dunlop CryBaby is a great wah, but there's still room for improvement.

First of all there's some tonesuck in bypass mode. This can be fixed by making the wah TrueBypass.

I also recommend to remove the buffer, since this takes away the shrill trebles from the wah.

- True Bypass + buffer removal: €30

- True Bypass without buffer removal: €30

- True bypass mods + LED: €37,50

- Other mods (more bass or mids, vocal mod, ...) on simple request!

Ibanez TS-808 True Bypass mod / switch replacement

First of all, why would you mod your TS-808 to true bypass? The buffer inside this pedal is not so bad at all.

Well, there are some situations where you could choose to perform the mod:

1. Your original switch breaks down. They are quite expensive to replace, but it is possible if you prefer this option off course!

2. You already have too many buffers in your chain.

3. You prefer all your pedals to be True Bypass.

- True bypass mod: €35,00

- True bypass mod + changing LED color: €40,00

- Original switch replacement: €40,00

Electro Harmonix Small Stone Volume mod

My personal favourite when it comes to phasers!

One big issue that many of them suffer from is a severe volume drop when you engage them. Fortunately this problem can be solved.

I prefer to perform the mod with two trimpots so you can tweak to taste. The first trimpot sets the overall level. Due to the nature of the circuit, there's a chance you get some self-oscillation when you turn up the level. The second trimpot sets the feedback, so you can get rid of this problem. It's just a matter of finding the balance you like.

- Volume mod: €30,00

MXR Blue Box mods

Maybe it's not for everyone, but you just gotta love that glitchy octave down fuzz tones!

Many users of the MXR Blue Box dislike the fact that it only delivers unity gain, you just don't get enough juice out of it... Some people perform the 'C12' mod you can find online, where you just have to remove one capacitor, but it just changes the character from the pedal too much to my taste. I prefer to build in an extra boost circuit at the output, based on the ZVex SuperHardOn, which enhances the tone of the pedal and can make it really loud if you want it to!

Another mod that can be quite interesting is the sub-octave mod. With this mod I'll add an extra switch to toggle between 1 or 2 octaves down.

- Boost mod: €35,00

- Sub-octave mod: €30,00

- Full option (boost + sub-octave): €55,00

Boss AW-2 'Chunky Funky' Mod

You want your AW-2 to sound a little fatter? Check out this mod!

Lower 'quack frequency', larger sweep, more control, fatter on both bass or guitar. We also added a switch to change the envelope filter direction.

This mod involves changing out a few parts AND some trace cutting on the PCB, so it's a little harder to perform. However, detailed instructions are included.

Included in the mod:

-       Up/Down switch for different envelope filter direction

-       Fatter sweep

-       White LED

Rates (pedal not included !!!):

- DIY kit with instructions: €17,50

- Mod Service: €50,00

Electro Harmonix Holy Grail 8-modes mod

The EHX Holy Grail Reverb, a personal favourite, holds a little secret. The stock version offers you three modes: Spring, Hall and Flerb. However, the chip inside the pedal is ready for more ambient goodness! You can get 5 hidden modes, including a shorter spring reverb, a darker reverb and a bathroom reverb.

I also prefer to make the 'Reverb' control a little less extreme in the first half. It's included in the price, so just let me know what you prefer.

- 8-modes mod: €45,00

- 'Boss-style' DC jack: €20,00

- Full option (8-modes + DC jack): €60,00

Ernie Ball Active Volume Pedal Mod

As an industry standard, the Volume pedal line from Ernie Ball can be found on many pedalboards. However, depending on placement in your chain it can cause quite some tonesuck, especially when connecting a tuner to the second output. With our Active Volume Pedal Mod you'll get rid of this problem, by placing an opamp buffer inside the pedal.

- Always on buffer: €40,00

- Buffer with on/off switch: €50,00

- LED in colour of preference: +€5,00
